“Farhan Akhtar is extremely Inspirational “says Actor Anjum Sharma – Actor Anjum sharma who made his Bollywood debut with the Oscar winning Danny Boyle film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, and also mesmerized the audiences with his cameo in Bijoy Nambiar`s ‘David’. Now, he is seen in the highly talked about movie ‘Wazir which released this Friday and has already been praised by the critcs and audience ,The movie stars superstar Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar and Aditi Rao Hydari.Anjum Sharma playing a Sikh ATS Officer.
Anjum Sharma finds Wazir a great opportunity for his acting career. He also got an opportunity to share screen space with Mr. Bachchan and extremely inspirational Actor Farhan Akhtar.
Anjum Sharma shares his experience working with Farhan Akhtar ” From the very beginning , when I knew that I would be playing a character close to Farhan in the film , I was very excited. I have always had great respect and admiration for him as an artist. A multi talented person. “I remember telling him on the set that Dil Chahta Hai is the only film I have seen seven times in theatre”.
I like bhaag milkha bhaag, Kartik calling kartik, rock on and Zindagi na milegi has been my favorite.
We met cordially on the set and then as days passed there was definitely a bond which developed. He has been a delight to work with , a thorough professional. He is super chilled and highly focused on set. He makes himself approachable, which was very important considering the kind of role I was playing. I am supposed to be playing Danish Ali’ s friend ( Sartaj’) who cares for him, He agrees or disagrees with Daanish but always supports him emotionally and professionally in the course of the film.
I have always seen his craft and had liking towards the kind of cinema he makes, but in wazir at so many occasions , I closely saw his understanding towards the script , character and for the medium . at times he brought strong references of emotions for the scene and use to share with me. As an actor he comes fully prepared for the scene & is an inspiration cause I also spend good amount of time in preparing for my part or a scene. he always has been supportive.
More than an actor I respect him as a person and I have closely seen that side . He is a very responsible citizen. He would be concerned with people and the social conditions around him. I remember he telling me this , I don’t like when people don’t stop at red signals. I am just gonna put a sticker on my car ,u consider me old fashioned but I stop at signals.
He would very often come up with his one liners. He has an amazing sense of humor. We at times also shared some anecdotes from the golden era of Indian cinema 70’s , from films like Sholay , Deewar , as I too have been a big filmy buff and just remember lines , scenes , characters in my second nature.
We discussed from, retro movies to recent films, his filmography , experiences from his earlier work , my work experience ,to some times just some thing philosophical. Its really some thing to learn and to appreciate that he is very chilled about the fact that he is huge star and wud just come across as a normal ordinary person who is intelligent, witty and fun to be with. Just like a BUDDY.. It was great and amazing experience to have worked and shared the camaraderie on screen and off screen with him on this film. It was definitely an “atrangi yaari” experience smile emoticon
